Workshop Safety & Safeguarding Summary (One‑Page)

Activities: Children’s book readings, storytelling, craft and illustration workshops
Venues: Primary schools, bookshops, libraries, festivals, and community groups across Ireland
Insurance
- Current Public Liability Insurance in place
- Certificate available on request
Safeguarding & Child Protection
- Tusla Children First Child Protection & Welfare Training
- Children First guidelines followed at all times
- Appropriate professional boundaries maintained
- No unsupervised one‑to‑one time with children
- No photography or recording without organiser permission
- Any concern reported immediately to the designated responsible adult
A teacher, organiser, librarian, or group leader must remain present and responsible for supervision throughout all sessions.
Workshop Safety Controls
- Activities are age‑appropriate and low risk
- Only child‑safe craft and illustration materials used
- Non‑toxic glues, colours, and supplies only
- Child‑safe scissors only — no blades or hot tools
- No hazardous substances used
- No food materials used unless agreed in advance
- Materials distributed and collected in a controlled way
- Work areas kept tidy and walkways clear
Venue Cooperation
We agree to:
- Follow host venue safety and emergency procedures
- Work in assigned areas only
- Check exits and layout on arrival
- Stop activities if unsafe conditions arise
- Report any accident or incident immediately
Supervision & Behaviour
- Primary responsibility for child supervision and behaviour remains with the host organisation
- Group leaders/teachers stay present and engaged
- Activities paused if behaviour creates risk
Hygiene & Wellbeing
- Hand hygiene encouraged after craft activities
- Sessions will not proceed if facilitators are unwell
- Spillages cleared promptly
